Working With a Business Broker
Some owners sell their business on their own. Others work with a business broker. Neither choice is required on Bizzy, and your listing works the same way either way. This article explains what brokers commonly do so you can decide what fits your sale.
What Brokers Commonly Help With
- Preparation. Organizing financials, operational detail, and the story a buyer needs to evaluate the business.
- Market expectations. Talking through asking price and likely timelines based on comparable sales.
- Buyer screening. Qualifying interest before sensitive details are shared.
- Confidentiality. Managing how and when information about the sale becomes known to staff, customers, and competitors.
- Negotiation. Working alongside you on price, terms, and structure.
- Transaction coordination. Keeping the steps between an accepted offer and closing moving.
Brokers usually charge a commission or fee. Terms vary, so ask how a broker is paid, what the engagement covers, and how long it lasts before signing anything.
Other Professional Advice
Selling a business can raise legal, tax, and accounting questions that a broker does not answer. An attorney, accountant, or tax adviser may be appropriate depending on your situation and where you operate.
Bizzy does not provide brokerage, legal, tax, or accounting services. Bizzy does not verify, rank, endorse, or refer brokers, and does not receive referral fees.
Selling Without a Broker
You can complete every step on Bizzy yourself. Creating a listing, configuring NDA & confidential diligence, responding to buyers, and publishing do not require a broker, and nothing about your listing is limited if you continue on your own. Publication still requires the same account, role, Premium, profile, contact, validation, location, media, and moderation checks as any other listing.
Bringing a Broker Into Your Listing
If you do work with a broker who has their own Bizzy account, listing collaboration lets you share a single listing with them. From My Listings, open that listing's three-dot menu and choose Invite collaborators. Shared access applies only to that listing — it does not expose your other listings, account settings, billing, or messages. See Sharing a Listing With a Collaborator for invitation and acceptance details, Creating a New Listing and Editing Your Listing for the seller workflows, and Representing a Business Owner if you are the person listing on an owner's behalf.
